Summer Riding Season Is Here!

I did my first two rides in the high country this weekend! The trails are running sweet in Ned, with the exception of the higher stuff which is still clogged with snow. I got turned around on School Bus by snow drifts. But I did ride the new Re-Root section of Root Canal. It’s pretty sweet and even has a couple rock features.

I was riding solo so I don’t have any action pics. Just a couple tilt shift still life portraits of the Bianchi SS.

Last weekend Ryan and I took team Bianchi Rita down to Jeffco for my first long ride of the year. The weather was perfect and the crowds weren’t too bad either. It felt really good to get away from the office and take a normal weekend day off! We rode pretty hard and got a solid 3.5 hour ride in. We rode to the upper part of the Red Rocks trails, which on a singlespeed was pretty damn difficult. Then we also rode Enchanted Forest and the upper loop at Apex . . . epic! Well, epic for me these days.

Well that was last week, and since then I haven’t managed to get any riding in. Damn I didn’t even get a yoga class in this week! :>( But the good news is that I’ve been shooting a ton and I have a lot of great stuff to post. I’m trying to catch up with all the editing and I should have a lot of new photos in the coming week. I have my first wedding of the year tomorrow so looks like I won’t be riding this weekend. Oh well, I’ll make sure to get out next week . . . let me know if anyone wants to ride on Tues.

Duelling Bianchi Rita Singlespeeds at Heil Ranch – First ride of the year!

Spring is officially here and yesterday I dusted off the singlespeed for the first ride of the year. I was going to do a quick road ride, as my geared bike is in pieces. But Ryan called and convinced me that riding a singlespeed for the first ride of the year is the only way to prove that you are a Real Man. We went up to Heil Ranch which is an extremely single speed friendly kinda ride. The new loop has been a really great addition and make the overall rockiness of the place tolerable.

The weather was perfect and the trails were pretty clear except for an abnormal number of hikers. It was so much fun that I just might have to go for another ride today.
