I made a Wedding Portfolio Slideshow and put it on YouTube
I’ve noticed that Google ranks YouTube videos quite highly. So I think I’m going to start uploading my slideshows there and see if it drums up any hype.
This is a general wedding slideshow that I made a while back for client meetings but I have not posted it yet.
The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservancy Photos and Slideshow

While I was down in Key West I checked out the Butterfly and Nature Conservancy. It was really amazing. There is a greenhouse and it is FILLED with butterflies. They are everywhere, and you can get right up on them with your 100mm 2.8 Macro :>) And no, the first image in the slideshow is clearly not a butterfly perched on my finger so that I could get a better closeup. You aren’t allowed to handle the butterflies or else you will get scolded like a schoolboy.

Central Florida Nature Photography Slideshow: Morris Bridge, Flatwoods, Trout Creek, Lettuce Lake Photos
I’ve been shooting some nature photos interspersed within and between my mountain biking adventures. It has been nice to get away from the routine and to spend some time wandering around in the woods. The mountain bike trails are out in the Hillsborough County Park System of Morris Bridge, Flatwoods, and Trout Creek.

The trails border on the cypress swamps. The main obstacles are roots, spiders, roots, and the occasional alligator, as I mentioned yesterday.

Check out the sweet pentagonal lens flare from my fisheye lens!

Lettuce Lake park has a tower where you can check out the view from above.

I don’t have a big enough lens to take serious close up nature photos of birds and critters from a distance. Fortunately these white ibis were pretty tame. The funny part about these birds is that their neck muscles are a primary means of propulsion. When they want to walk faster they start bobbing their heads forward more furiously to speed up!

2007 Colorado State Cyclocross Championship Photos and Slideshow

This year’s ACA Colorado State Cyclocross Championship was held at a brand new venue in Lyons, Colorado, which is about 20 minutes north of Boulder. All the local cross freaks were undoubtedly excited to see piles of snow falling from the heavens on Saturday. The cross gods were smiling on Colorado, and ensuring that a ‘real’ cross race would go down, and not one of Colorado’s famous sunny and dry events.

The temperatures were extremely cold on Sunday, which made sure that the course stayed frozen and icy. I was a little disappointed; I was hoping for an energy sucking slop-fest. But you can’t have everything, and I’ll take any sort of adverse conditions that I can get. What we did get at our new Lyons event was sponsorship by local brewery Oskar Blues. There were generous amounts of free Dale’s Pale Ale and Old Chub Scottish Ale available, which ensured that the fans would be rowdy.

And that’s the beard of Dave from Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey. He’s a classic eccentric distiller type, who took the bus from Denver to Boulder, then rode his fixed gear bike to Lyons, then raced, then hung out and gave out samples of his awesome whiskey. I’m a whiskey on the rocks man, and Stranahan’s is some of the best that I’ve ever had. With all of these fine local beverages and a fire pit present, the fans kept warm and happy. Here is a shot of Greg from Mud and Cowbells Blogspot having about the most fun he’s ever had. He did a good job, but I could have used a little more cowbell!

And there was some racing going on too, although I had a hard time focusing. The pro men’s race was an awesome throw-down dogfight between Brandon Dwight, Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski, Danny Summerhill and Matt Pacocha.

JHK was trying to obtain a frozen beard as good as Dave’s, but I don’t think he quite did it.

And in the end it was young blood Danny S. taking the win over the veterans!

I’ve put together a slideshow of all my photos. You can view the slideshow on it’s own page by clicking HERE. Or watch it in the video window below, and enjoy the generous helping of cowbell right here in the comfort of the home page. There will be a gallery at the end where you can view individual photos, just in case I’ve captured you in all your frozen glory.
Nature Photography Slideshow - Sunset at the Boulder Reservior
I took some time to enjoy the sunset today. I missed all of the great ones we had last week because I was too busy working working working. But today I’m wrapping up a few days of mental relaxation.
I did manage to figure out how to embed slideshows into this new blog template, so that is pretty exciting. I’ve got a few cool pictures of broken ice.

The pointy hill on the right is Sugarloaf. I can almost see Paul’s house. Hi Paul!

The picture below is my self portrait today.

And here we have another non-standard Flatirons shot to add to my collection.

So check out the slideshow below for more pictures. It’s pretty short, only 1:40 long.
Wedding Photos and Slideshow from the Pastures of Plenty
.: CLICK HERE FOR PHOTO SLIDESHOW OF SARAH AND JEREMY’S WEDDING ON ITS OWN PAGE:.
Ah, the long awaited photos and slideshow from Sarah and Jeremy’s wedding are here. Well maybe you weren’t waiting for them, but some people have been. I wrote about the venue in an older post. Once again I was blessed with overcast skies for shadow-less faces for most of the day. I love it when that happens!

The flower girl walking down the aisle was pretty much the sweetest thing ever! She was handing flowers to everyone; sooooo cute. Then right behind her was her older brother, throwing a tantrum the whole way! Sooooo funny!

When in doubt of a backdrop for the groomsman shots, I opt for power tools or heavy machinery.

Right when Sarah, Jeremy, and I of us broke off from the scene for the Couple’s Photo Shoot, the clouds broke and the sun popped out for some dramatic lighting. I love it when the clouds part for me!

Both Jeremy and this guy were throwing down the breakdancing moves in the grass. I’ll be interested to know what the tux rental place had to say about the grass stains on his shirt and vest!

The day was a smashing success. Perfect venue, beautiful people, beautiful flowers, great food, and no one’s face got smashed with cake. Sarah agreed to participate in a post-wedding photo shoot in her wedding dress on their matching motocross bikes, and you KNOW Jeremy is all about it!

Photo Slideshow - Fun Photos from 2007
I was asked to make a slideshow that is ‘representative of my work’ for our studio gathering tonight. Here it is: A random collection of images I like.
Photo Gallery and Slideshow - Dave and Erin’s Wedding

The weekend before last I shot Dave and Erin Fleck’s wedding; yes the now infamous Winter Park Bachelor Party Crew was in attendance as well. The ceremony and the reception were held at the Colorado Historical Society building above the Colorado History Museum near the capitol building in Denver. It was scorching hot and blazing sun during the ceremony, which may have contributed to it’s whopping 8 minute length. I think everyone was thankful to retreat to the shade with some cold beverages. But soon as the sun went down we were treated to a beautiful view from our fourth floor terrace. The sunset over Colorado’s Continental Divide was divine, and the Denver skylight provided a unique backdrop for some portraiture.

I find the captured moment in the ceremony image below really funny. It is one of those pictures that makes you wonder: What was she thinking? Am I really marrying a man who shaves his legs? Can I really afford to be second to mountain bike trips for the rest of my life? Is Chris Sharma still single, he looked pretty hot in Steve Z’s climbing slideshow … ? Ha! Just kidding, guys, congratulations and I wish you the best. So without further ado, click on the image below to start the slideshow check out some fun pictures.
Photo Gallery and Slideshow - Mountain Biking Kenosha Pass and Monarch Crest

The photo adventure from this past weekend involved riding two sections of the Colorado Trail. Since the Feds are threatening to close the Colorado Trail to mountain biking, I figured this was the year to ride two of the best rides in the world. Let me tell you, they didn’t disappoint. I could have taken a lot more photos, but frankly I was having way too much fun to stop. Check out the slideshow and music by clicking on the slideshow picture below.

Two weeks ago we embarked on the Dave’s Bachelor Party 1 adventure. Rob got the idea that we would ride our bikes from Ned to Winter Park, spend the night celebrating Dave’s last weekend of singledom, then ride back the next day. So on a bright Saturday morning 5 of us loaded up on the 7:10 bus to Ned loaded down with full packs of gear and clothes for the weekend. We rode the Jenny Creek trail up to the Guinn Mountain Hut where we took our first photo break. From there it was a pretty short ride over Rollins Pass to the top. For the last pitch Rob suggest “Eye of the Tiger” as the theme for the last pitch, so that explains the music in the slideshow. We of course got lost exploring on the way down to Winter Park, which led to a long 7 hour first day. We were really hungry, and dreaming of BBQ food, so we successfully manifested a BBQ as soon as we rolled into Frasier. Ryan easily won the Turkey Leg Eating Championship.

The plan was to take it easy at the bar that night in the name of riding well the next day. But as it turned out, the annual post-Sturgis Winter Park Harley Biker-Fest was in town this weekend. Once those bikers got wind of Dave’s Bachelor party, a “Three Wise Men” shot was served, a body shot from Tattooed Biker Chick was realized, and next thing you know it’s two in the morning and Dave is black-out drunk.
The 8 AM wake up call hurt a lot. The 30 minute climb in the wrong direction hurt even more. But the 15 mile climb to Rollins pass with 30lb packs hurt the most. The grand plan to ride singletrack back into Ned was a dwindling reality. We found a new direct way back via the Eldora ski area, but we still managed to get pounded by a thunderstorm on the way back down into town.
The first day offered great riding. The night in Winter Park provided endless entertainment. And the suffering on the way back to Boulder solidified the event as an Epic Weekend. I wish I took more pictures to fill up the slideshow, but I didn’t. I wisely left the camera at home for the night out at the bar! This account is brief, but I needed to get it posted before we leave tomorrow for our next epic riding adventure. Plus, Dave’s wedding is now in the books and I still have to edit those photos!

Photo Gallery and Slideshow - Bouldering Competition at Outdoor Retailer
My latest addition to the website is a new flash slideshow program. I think it’s pretty cool. It has a pretty slick pan and zoom feature which gives the slideshow a dynamic feel. For my first test I have some photos from the Mammut-EMS Bouldering Championships that were held at the Summer 2007 Outdoor Retailer trade show. Chris Sharma won the Mens’ competition and Alex Johnson took the Womens’. Pretty soon my photos should be posted along with the other photographers who actually edited their photos promptly at www.boulderingcomps.com.
Jose Yavari’s Moab Photo Slideshow Movie
Jose sent me a link to a slideshow he put together of shots that he has taken in Moab over the years. I enjoyed it a lot, we hope you will too.
