Schone Donnerstag! (Happy Thursday Berlin Bike Action)

OK so the truth is that I injured my foot a little bit jumping off the pier in England. It was fine until I did a full day of walking on it. Now walking is a bit uncomfortable. So I got the bright idea to rent a town bike to cruise around Berlin, thereby saving my foot for Poland and also seeing more of the city and maybe even getting a bit of exercise in to boot.

Berlin has bike lanes and paths everywhere; it is very bike commuter friendly. Many places there are brick paths on the sidewalks, and in other places there are lanes in the street.

I found a bit of singletrack in the city!

I rented the bike at the base of the TV tower. It was brilliant, because I could ride anywhere and not get lost! OK click the READ MORE for the rest of the pics and story from my day of biking in Berlin!

Fortunately, today turned out to be the nicest day so far in Berlin. It was about 45 but the sun was out for a change. I had the tunes crankin’ in the MP3 player and all was good. The light was much better for shooting photos as well!

It was an impressive piece of German Engineering, The Tramper. Oh yes, the handling, the responsive ride, the low seat, and the bent cranks all provided and overwhelming sense of oneness with the universe. I pushed the machine to the edge, carving and weaving, tearing up the trails; the cobbles were effortless!

Here is some WWII stuff for my Dad. Happy Birthday Dad!!!!

This was some kind of art museum. Similar to Denver, eh?

If you’ve been to Europe, you’ve seen the Smart Car. They are so amazingly small. You can park them in a spot sideways!

Smart is now making a sports car-ish thing. It’s pretty cool. Very low, only about waist-tall.

And while on the subject of unusual vehicles, check out the BMW semi-enclosed motorcycle/scooter thing.

After a fun day riding bikes, I needed to refuel my carbohydrate stores. Mmmmm, gelato!

This sculpture is right by the house, it’s pretty cool. I want to come back here at night with the strobes and do some funky shots with Debby to model. In the meantime I took a self-portrait without the winter coat for once!

OK that’s it for another day in Europe! I’m leaving for Krakow, Poland in a couple hours for the weekend. I’m super excited about this one!
