The highlight of the ride last night was greatly decreased turnout after last weeks monster traffic jam. An afternoon shower cooled the air off nicely and helped to reduce the crowds at the Scott Carpenter starting location. Additionally, the Wahoo’s crew decared a ‘mutany ride’, where they went off on their own little cruise to try to seek out that small group vibe. I went by both start locations and both groups began on a relatively subdued vibe. I suspect this was mostly because everyone hadn’t had a full week to recharge their party mojo after the 4th only 2 days prior. Music man Ryan was out of town and the new Cruiser Tunes still isn’t operational, so both groups were without major tuneage. The main group had about 350 while the photos of the Wahooligans shows around 30. I heard some various drama related comments about this ride and that ride and which was better and blah blah blah. All I have to say is that anyone who has any kind of jealously, anger, elitism, or arrogance about cruising should have a nice big cup of shut the fuck up. Its all about cruising, and the most fun is wherever you are at, it doesn’t matter where, with who, or how many. Different strokes for different folks, yo, keep your drama to yo-self.
Heading out from Scott Carpenter Park we did an eastern loop to the East Pearl Industrial Zone, then eventually back around to the Sports Garage. The sunset was spectacular, the air cool, and the speed was pretty fast considering we were still over 300 strong. We then headed west roughly along Pine St, criss-crossing the downtown area, finally descending upon the St. Julian parking structure place. Does that place have a name? It is just a large square cement area that almost appears made for a big ol’ cruiser circle. We have been kicked out of there before, but circled there for a long time without incident. Actually, I didn’t hear of any police problems for the whole night, well, until I got reprimanded by a Man In Uniform for riding the Moto-Trike backwards down the mall to Pizza Calore. I got out of it because I was only going 1/4 of a block to satisfy my munchies, but I had to do a little ass-kissing nonetheless. My group was pretty worn out so we all headed home without checking out the Republic or any other bars for that matter. Did anyone show up at the Republic? Steve Z out til next week.

The size of the “REAL” cruiser ride was just right for a summer ride. It was really cool to see so many people dressing up and getting in the Cruiser Spirit. Plus when we started heading west and saw the sunset, that was nice. Everyone was being really cool in traffic and I saw veteren cruisers going up to some new people and taking to them about the ride, it made for a nice cruiser community vibe.
